A coffered ceiling turns a flat, forgettable ceiling into the reason people walk into a room and look up. It adds depth, shadow, and a sense that the house was built with intent. It is also unforgiving work — a coffered grid is nothing but sightlines, so every beam has to be straight, evenly spaced, and square to the next.

We lay out the grid to the room before a single beam goes up, sizing the coffers so the pattern feels deliberate and centered, not squeezed to fit whatever was left over at the walls.

What we build

• Coffered grids — full beam patterns sized to the room.
• Box-beam ceilings — a cleaner, lighter grid where a full coffer is too much.
• Feature and accent beams — a single beam or a run, where that is the right restraint.
• Beam-and-panel detail — with trim, molding, or a paneled inset in each coffer.

Layout is the whole job

The craft in a coffered ceiling is almost entirely in the layout. Get the grid centered and evenly spaced and the ceiling looks like it grew there. Get it wrong and every beam reminds you. We spend the time up front so the finished ceiling reads as one intentional piece of work.
